Praslinois, Diguois learn more about ‘separation of powers’

A group of students and adults on Praslin and La Digue have enhance their knowledge of the three arms of the State and the separation of powers.

They did so through a workshop organised by the Association for Rights, Information and Democracy (Arid) last Friday on Praslin as part of the National Day celebrations. The workshop was held at the Oasis hotel.

The presentation on the three arms of the State and the separation of powers was made by Gulmette Bootna from the Attorney General’s office.

Jules Hoareau, a member of Arid, made a presentation on citizens’ involvement in public affairs and the role of citizens in advocating for good governance and democracy.

Some interesting questions were raised by the participants following the two presentations. The discussions were very open and participatory. The senior ones shared their knowledge to the youths and the young ones asked a lot of questions.

The workshop is part of a series of education and awareness campaign by the local NGO Arid in collaboration with the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
