Plane debris discovered on Farquhar |12 July 2017

Rangers of the Island Conservation Society (ICS) based on Farquhar have found what appear to be pieces of debris from a plane.

A communiqué from the Islands Development Company (IDC) said this discovery was made on Monday while the team was doing its routine turtle and bird monitoring on North Island.

The largest piece of debris is around 120cm long and 30cm wide and appears to be made of aluminum and carbon fibre.

The Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) which was contacted following the discovery says it could be part of an engine cover.

Farquhar is the most southerly atoll of Seychelles, lying just over 700km to the southwest of the main island, Mahé.
