NDEA Communiqué - NDEA continues joint operations with police |13 July 2017

 


 

Last weekend the National Drugs Enforcement Agency (NDEA) continued its joint operations with the Department of Police, arresting and later releasing a total of 19 individuals under caution for possession of a controlled drug which included both heroin and cannabis.

Within these operations which were mainly conducted at the known drug hot-spots around Mahé a woman and two men were arrested at two separate locations with a case registered against them for the offence of obstructing and threatening NDEA agents while on duty.

On the first day of the operation Friday July 7 at Talbot, Cascade, a 25-year-old male cook was arrested for trafficking in approximately 3grammes of suspected heroin and a total sum of R5,889 in different denominations was also seized in his possession as exhibit.

After undergoing procedural formalities at the NDEA station he was released with a case registered against him for investigation.

In a separate operation on the same day at Côte D’or, Praslin a 37-year-old self-employed man was arrested for trafficking in approximately 26 grammes of suspected heroin. He was detained and he appeared before the Magistrate Court on Monday this week whereby it has been ordered that he will be remanded until July 20, 2017 when he will reappear before the court.
