Man fined for threatening NDEA agents with machete |20 July 2017

 

Terry Andrew Poris, a 37-year-old carpenter from Bel Ombre, has been fined R12,000 by the Supreme Court for uttering threats to and menacing a team of NDEA (National Drugs Enforcement Agency) agents with a machete at his residence.

This happened on October 28, 2015 when the agents were mounting an operation to search his house.

In the Supreme Court on July 11, 2017 after pleading guilty of the two offences Judge Nunkoo sentenced Poris to pay R6000 for each offence.  Poris has been given three months to make payment of the total sum of R12,000, in default of which he will serve a prison term of six months.
