Minister discusses health developments with English River MNA |20 July 2017

The Minister for Health Jean-Paul Adam and the member of the National Assembly for English River, Wilbur Herminie, have discussed ideas on how to enhance the operations of the English River Health Centre.

This was during a visit that the minister conducted last Friday at the health centre.

“This visit is part of our continued efforts to ensure constant engagement between our health centres and the communities they serve,” Minister Adam said.

“It was an opportunity for interaction with staff and patients, and also to review plans for improvements.”

Minister Adam and Honourable Herminie met staff to hear more about the challenges they face, as well as their numerous accomplishments thus far.

The visit was also an opportunity to review areas that require refurbishment. These include the emergency room, currently too small for the number of patients received daily, as well as the maternal and child health section, which operates at maximum capacity but suffers a shortage of staff.

Minister Adam gave assurances that strategic measures would be taken to remedy those gaps.

“Where services do not meet expectations, we are also constantly looking for ways to address shortfalls. We appreciate the commitment of staff to continually improve and to deliver person centred care,” the minister said.
