CBS discusses monetary policy with SCCI |21 July 2017

As part of its continuing efforts to improve transparency and communication of its policies with key stakeholders in the economy, the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) on Tuesday met representatives from the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

This particular session focused on the monetary policy stance for the third quarter of 2017 and

mechanisms being introduced to provide clearer signals and assist in the pricing of longer term

interest rates at commercial banks.

CBS Governor Caroline Abel noted that “this is the first interaction that the Central Bank has with the SCCI at this level and we look forward to sequencing further meetings with the Chamber in the future”.

The acting chairman of the SCCI, Oliver Bastienne, expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the SCCI, for the openness and transparency of the Central Bank in apprising the SCCI of the monetary policy process.

The fruitful discussions that also provided SCCI members with the opportunity to seek

clarifications on issues relevant to CBS have been welcomed and are to continue on a quarterly

basis.
