IOT reaches out to the local community |22 July 2017

The Indian Ocean Tuna (IOT) canning factory organised its annual event ‘IOT Day in the Community’ last Saturday.

Groups of willing employees were deployed from the factory to various locations in the local community to engage in activities with the purpose of making a positive difference to the community.

The activities started at 8am and went on until 2pm. This year a total of 210 employees volunteered.

The activities included planting of endemic trees at the Salazie trail in the National Park, clearing of evasive plants at the Tea Tavern at Sans Soucis, clearing of rubbish from the marshland at North East Point and cleaning of the Les Canelles River all the way to the beach.

The accompanying photos show the IOT staff in action during their day out in the community.
