LDS calls for further actions on FIU and NDEA revelations |28 July 2017

Following the shocking revelations in the report of the Auditor-General on payments made by the

FIU (Financial Intelligence Unit) and the NDEA (National Drugs Enforcement Agency), rendered public by the leader of the opposition, Wavel Ramkalawan, in the National Assembly on Tuesday, the Linyon DEmokratik Seselwa (LDS) has called for all the relevant authorities to make their utmost effort

and co-operate to achieve a full disclosure for all the information to be made available to the

Seychellois public and for further action on these cases.

In view of the magnitude of the sums involved and the irregularities in the procurement and

payment process, LDS believes the cases should be referred to the Anti-Corruption Commission for

investigation and possible further action.

All relevant authorities must come forward to disclose all details at their disposal regarding the

payments and to disclose what steps they are taking to discharge their responsibilities and to

correct the serious irregularities which have been made public.

LDS has commended the Finance and Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly for its work

in pursuing this subject and the Office of the Auditor-General for its diligent work in a matter that is

of great importance to accountability and responsibility on the part of our public institutions.
