The newly launched television station TéléSesel is not here to compete with other existing television services, but to complement what are already in place.

This was said by Clive Camille, line producer of Radius Studios, the studio which produces contents for TéléSesel l.

Mr Camille, together with co-partner Gilmer Philoe, channel producer, have teamed up with Cable & Wireless Seychelles to set up this first ever High Definition (HD) local television station in Seychelles.

The station is also focused on local production which they say is in demand.

TéléSesel was officially launched in a cocktail dînatoire at the Tamassa restaurant, Eden Island, on Friday evening in the presence of the producers, supporters, staff and other guests.

A variety of contents will be broadcast on TéléSesel like on the environment, talk shows, sports which the station is putting much emphasis on. A variety of local contents that cater for every category of people of different ages.

It all started during a conversation one day between Messrs Camille and Philoe when they expressed their wish to set up a TV station.

“I was watching a wedding video one day when Clive said: ‘Gilmer why don’t we start such a project together’. I said why not? Let’s set up a company. And it is from there that Radius Studios was born,” said Mr Philoe.

He said the TéléSesel project did not come about by mere coincidence. It was a dream of his to have more local programmes on television.

“I worked at the SBC for 26 years, I had a thirst for local contents as I felt there was a lack of them. And the public also was asking for such programmes,” said Mr Philoe.

TéléSesel is a new television station created by Radius Studios and supported by Cable & Wireless Seychelles. Many people are asking why Cable & Wireless? Cable & Wireless Seychelles has been one of the companies in Seychelles that have been innovative and which already has existing facilities for broadcasting HD contents which we wanted TéléSesel to be broadcast on,” said Clive.

Mr Camille said another one of TéléSesel objectives is to get a team of people with different backgrounds, those who have already been in the broadcasting environment and also new faces. These are journalists, local talents in various aspects like in culture, art, environment, just to name a few.

“Since we started broadcasting on July 24, we have been receiving many comments on the very good quality images we are offering. This is the reason why we went HD and people get the images very much clearer. Allow me to say it is the first time in the history of broadcasting in Seychelles that images from a local television station is transmitted in this way,” said Mr Camille.

The chief executive of Cable & Wireless, Charles Hammond, commended Radius Studios on its organisation, contents, programmes and the vision and clarity of what they want to achieve. This is why Cable & Wireless has stepped in to assist them in achieving such.

“So it was really a simple decision to meet with the people behind Radius. And I’m glad we made a good partnership,” said Mr Hammond.

TéléSesel is being broadcast on Channel One, under the NEWS segment of Cable & Wireless cable television.
