Cecile Lablache working for charity |03 August 2017

Well known blind singer Cecile Lablache is here for one month accompanied by her husband Lens Collins to help raise funds for the National Council for Children (NCC).

The couple are both qualified masseurs and will be offering their services to the public for one day at the NCC on August 18, for a small fee which will go towards the NCC fund.

The question that everyone is asking is how can a talented blind person like Cecile offer that kind of services.

Yesterday morning Ms Lablache spoke to Seychelles NATION about her project, and how she ended up being a blind therapist.

“Where massage is concerned I was always interested in being on the treatment table, not being the therapist. Then one day an elderly friend of mine visited and requested that I gave her a massage. It was then that I realised I had the ability to relieve someone from their discomfort and I decided to take the course. I now use the tactile senses which are my way of life, to promote healing, to ease the aches and pains and above all, to participate with and give comfort to the elderly, with a gentle hand massage,” she said.

She stated that each time she visits Seychelles she takes time to visit the NCC.

“Such project started last year, where we wanted to implement something to help raise funds for the NCC. This year we decided to implement the project offering such services to the general public, who have never experienced a massage on a treatment table. We will be offering a light and medium pressure massage, hand massage among others for about 15 minutes for each client. The entire fund will go towards NCC to implement the various projects it has in store,” she said.

Ms Lablache has been a masseur for the past eight years, and Mr Collins for ten years. They both have their own clinic.

Their massage will help reduce stress, improve circulation and range movement, ease and tone muscles. It will also provide a deep relaxation that allows our minds and bodies to recharge and rejuvenate.

Children’s massage will also be available on that day, but they must be accompanied by their parents.

Reservations can be made by telephoning 4283900.
