Bring It On Gospel Talent Show Final |07 August 2017

Maria Mein, Emmanuel Perreau and Anielle Marengo winners

The much awaited live finale of the ‘Bring It On’ gospel talent show held on Saturday saw Maria Mein, Emmanuel Perreau and Anielle Marengo coming out as the winners of their respective categories.

Maria Mein not only clinched the first spot in the 12-19 age category but also was the public favourite, winning the People's Choice Award.

The 14-year-old gave well-received renditions of 'Zezi ou menm sa semen' by Barabara and King, and 'I Testify’ by Ada Ehi to bypass Sheena Meriton and Diane Guy, her fellow competitors.  For this feat Mein, similarly to the other winners, received multiple gifts from the show's various sponsors.

Mein, who hails from a family of singers, said she was both shocked and elated to have won her category and the People's Choice Award for this third talent show.

“It's a big thing for me because I was struggling a bit with the songs. I really was not expecting to be the people's favourite so I'm very happy that the Seychelles public chose,” she said.

As for Emmanuel Perreau, winner of the 20-35 age group, he attributed his success in this competition to personal sacrifices and to God.

“I wanted to show Seychellois youths that we can also do our part in helping bring gospel songs to the mainstream,” he said.

Emmanuel was up against Praslinois May Paul Louise and Shane Farabeau in this category.

The contestants in the 12-19 and 20-35 age groups were given the opportunity to sing a song of their own choosing and another song chosen for them by the juries on the judging panel.

Meanwhile 20-year-old Anielle Marengo won the original songs category with her own composition entitled ‘Mon Loue ou Zezi’ . She faced fierce competition from Stephanie Jean who was the only other competitor in this category.

According to Marengo her song is inspired from her past trial which she got through by writing her thoughts down in a diary; these same words from that diary found itself in her song.

“I was not really in it for the competition but rather I was taking the show as one of the many steps to transform my life; to accept the things that have happened to me which I cannot change but I know can change my life with the help of God,” she told Seychelles NATION.

The runners-up did not leave empty handed as they also received various gifts from the show's sponsors.

Another prize up for grabs was the Shekinah Award which honours an artist’s contribution to gospel songs and this went to Jones Camille, a veteran in this field.

This third ‘Bring It On’ gospel talent show was organised by the Everlasting Love Ministry in collaboration with other partners.
