Football: Seychelles remain 194th as Brazil return to the top |11 August 2017

The Seychelles national football team remain 194th in the latest Fifa (International Football Federation) world rankings released yesterday, while five-time world champions Brazil have returned to the number one spot.

Seychelles currently have 51 points, with their latest result being a 1-5 defeat to Libya and find themselves above only 17 other nations in the rankings.

On the African continent, Seychelles remain above only Eritrea and Somalia in the rankings, while Egypt remain at the top. The rest of the Caf (Confederation of African Federations) top 10 also features Congo DR, Senegal, Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire.
Meanwhile, on the world stage, Brazil are back at the top after losing the place to world champions Germany last month and they have 1,604 points.

Germany have slipped to second place with 1,549 points and are followed in the top 10 by Argentina (1,399), Switzerland (1,329), Poland (1,319), Portugal (1,267), Chile (1,250), Colombia (1,208), Belgium (1,194) and France (1,157).

The biggest movers this month are Namibia, who moved up 20 spots from 243rd to 223rd in the rankings, while Curacao dropped 18 places to 86th place, from 68th in July.
