SIT students learn more about the value of ‘Responsibility’ |18 August 2017

The value of ‘Responsibility’ was explored during a half-day workshop targeting 50 post-secondary students at the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT).

The workshop, organised by the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC), was held yesterday at the SIT, Providence.

Each month SNYC launches a value in the context of its ‘Values for one, Values for all’ programme, and the value chosen for the month of August is ‘Responsibility’.

The workshop was to increase the knowledge of the participants on the value and bring them to realise its importance in their studies and future careers.

The workshop coordinator, Beryl Dodin, who is a counsellor at the SNYC, noted that it is important to keep reminding the students about their responsibilities towards their studies.

“This workshop was to educate the SIT students about responsibility, and making sure they take their education seriously.  Student responsibility occurs when students take an active role in their learning by recognising they are accountable for their academic success. Student responsibility is demonstrated when they make choices and take actions which lead them toward their educational goals,” she said.

During the workshop sisters Cecile and Brigitte Lablache, both blind from birth, were present to explain how they put into practice the value of responsibility in spite of their disability.
