World Entrepreneurs’ Day 2017 - Seychelles marks day with host of activities |21 August 2017

Seychelles is today joining the rest of the world to mark World Entrepreneurs’ Day (WED). The day is set to create awareness on entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership around across the globe.

Entrepreneurs are seen as job creators and their pivotal roles in the economic growth of a country are recognised and valued.

Seychelles recognises the importance of focusing on entrepreneurship development and creating the right environment for entrepreneurs to keep flourishing and innovating their businesses.

It is therefore ideal for Seychelles to join hands with the rest of the world to celebrate WED and give support to entrepreneurs.

A number of activities have been organised locally from today until August 25, and the week has been dubbed as the Seychelles Entrepreneurship Week. The official launch of the week-long programme will take place today at the Savoy Resort and Spa.

Local entrepreneurs will also be showcasing their innovative products and services at the resort throughout the week.

Spearheaded by the Small Enterprise Promotion Agency (Senpa), the Seychelles Entrepreneurship Week will also see the contribution of local entrepreneurs and representatives of relevant authorities in a one-day forum at the Savoy Resort and Spa.

Entrepreneurs hailing from Praslin and La Digue have not been forgotten as a similar business forum will be held on August 23 at the Oasis Hotel, Restaurant and Spa, Grand Anse Praslin.

Senpa will be signing agreements with three of its partners, set to bring more benefits for entrepreneurs registered with the agency.

The Minister for Industry, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Innovation Wallace Cosgrow will also be visiting a number of small and medium enterprises during the Seychelles Entrepreneurship Week.

The week-long activities will end on August 25 with a special bazaar at the former children’s playground in Victoria whereby artisans will have the chance to showcase and sell their products.
