Good turnout for SDA church’s health expo |22 August 2017

The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church is hosting an exhibition to promote healthy living among the society and more effective ways to feel better and live longer.

The Health Expo, which was officially opened on Sunday, is taking place at the Orion Mall, Victoria and  is an opportunity for people to discover the benefits of healthy living.

At the expo members of the public can check on their health status through various tests, such as blood pressure, sugar level, Body Mass Index, free massages, lung capacity, HIV testing and general health assessment and counselling among others.

Winsley Dodin was among many members of the public who came to see how physically fit they were, and also to learn how to better take care of their health through different means.

“I wanted to see how physically fit I am. Personally I am having some health issues, and with that kind of activity it will allow me to better understand my situation in terms of what kind of treatment I should take or how to move to a better diet,” he said.

SDA mission health director Gemma Changty-Young stated that such expo will allow members of the public to better understand their health.

“At the SDA we always want to promote a better lifestyle for our community. Since we started the expo we have had a lot of people coming to seek for information on how to adopt a better lifestyle and in the process live longer.  I can certainly declare the expo a success. We are happy to be able to continue to make an important contribution in terms of counselling, healthy living habits and many more to the Seychellois families and community at large,” she said.

The NEWSTART programme advocated by the SDA has been successful in helping millions around the world regain their health and allowing people to educate themselves about their health.
