SeyIT.tv -- new online platform launched |26 August 2017

SeyIT.tv is a new online platform on Facebook producing short creative videos twice a month, giving a voice to the power of people, their talents, and the issues that matter to them.

The focus of the initiative is on young people and provides them with a platform to express themselves and what is important to them, though the platform actively encourages participation from all demographics.

All videos are issues-led (as told through the perspectives of everyday people) and seek to encourage productive conversation and explore the diversity of thought.

All content is inspiring, informative and thought-provoking, and provides a digital space for diverse and representative perspectives from Seychelles’ society.

This voluntary project is spearheaded by young adult professionals who are passionate about people-led empowerment, youth engagement, and positive stories.

The team consists of co-founders Craig Francourt and Nandita Nair, with experienced video producer Andre Katombe for Sonrise Picture.

“SeyIT.tv aims to provide a voice to people who care about a range of issues in our society, but are not always afforded the opportunity to share their views. We are thrilled to be launching this exciting and innovative new platform, that aims to initiate constructive dialogue through creativity, discussion and active citizenship,” explains the group.

“The increasing influence that Facebook continues to play in the country is something that cannot be ignored, and we are excited for SeyIT.tv to play a key role in shaping the conversations around the issues that matter.”

“Our vision is to create an online space where everyone associated with Seychelles - both here and abroad - can feel as if they can positively engage in our videos through sharing our content and through ongoing discussion - both online and offline. We hope to empower people, particularly our young people, to engage in the conversation and feel empowered to take action on the issues that matter to them,” explains the group.

SeyIT.tv is also launching a related photography project, ‘Humans of Seychelles’, via Facebook Page in the coming weeks. Based on the popular ‘Humans of New York’ concept, the aim of this project is to share compelling images and stories that provide a snapshot into the lives of the various faces that make up Seychelles. It seeks to capture the soul of people, across all demographics, and reveal how interlinked people are in the country.

The platforms will remain creative, apolitical, constructive and solution-focused. The first few videos have already been released, and over the coming weeks, SeyIT.tv will be on the lookout for more people interested in sharing their issue-based stories through the SeyIT.tv Facebook Page. Facebook users can like the Facebook page (facebook.com/SEYITTV) to keep up to date and engage with content.
