Man gets five years for drug trafficking |11 September 2017

 

 

Darren Chris Elizabeth, a 24-year-old casual worker of Lablache Estate, Grand Anse Praslin, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for drug trafficking.

Elizabeth pleaded guilty to an amended charge of trafficking in a controlled drug, an offence which he committed on October 12, 2016 when he was arrested in possession of 29.15 grammes of heroin upon his arrival to Mahé on a domestic flight from Praslin.

Elizabeth was sentenced in the Supreme Court on September 4, 2017 by Judge Gustave Dodin.

Elizabeth was on remand since October 27, 2016 and the time spent since will be counted as part of his sentence.
