Women’s Lions Club donates to School for the Exceptional Child |20 September 2017

The handover of the donation

The Centennial Women’s Lions Club (CWLC) has donated flat screens, tape recorder and a puzzle carpet worth R5800 to the School for the Exceptional Child.

The donation was handed over in a small ceremony hosted at the school yesterday morning.

Present were the president of CWLC Sashi Senthil, the head teacher of the school Heidi Francourt, members of the club and the pupils and teachers of the school.

In a speech before the handover of the donation, Mrs Senthil highlighted the club’s commitment to providing assistance to communities and thanked everyone who had facilitated the donation.

“It is our great pleasure to make this donation to the school for the students as it will allow them to have a better education and brighter future.  We thank the Ministry of Education who has allowed us to serve the school community,” she said.

While expressing her gratitude for the donation, head teacher Francourt said the school will benefit from the donation as it will enhance the pupils’ education.

“It is a privilege to have received this wonderful donation, which will allow better teaching and learning for the students. It will bring a big difference to the students,” she said.

During the ceremony the CWLC also handed over a special donation to a young girl at the school, Tanny Samedi, who lost everything to a fire at her Grand Anse home a couple of months ago.

It is to be recalled that since its inception in June 2016 the CWLC has taken part in many charitable activities such as fundraising fun walks, blood donation, among others, for the benefit of our community.
