Creative drawing competition launched in support of NCC |23 September 2017

Following the success of its last drawing competition under the theme ‘Christmas in Seychelles’, printing press Printhouse is launching its second competition in less than a year under a new creative concept aptly called ‘Kre-Enspire’ in support of the National Council for Children (NCC).

The creative competition was officially launched yesterday at the NCC’s Children’s Ark Building at Bel Eau in conjunction with the NCC’s activities to commemorate the International Peace Day in the presence of government ministers, NCC board members, members of the National Assembly, non-governmental organisations and other distinguished guests.

“In its simplest term, ‘Kre-Enspire’ means ‘Create and Inspire’ and it was coined following our discussions with NCC on the format for the competition.  This year’s theme will be ‘Peace, Love & Friendship’ and is targeting children, adolescents and youth from 5 to 21 years of age and open to Drawing, Photography and Graphics Design entries,” said Pascale d’Offay, general manager of Printhouse.

Similar to last year’s drawing competition, Printhouse will then reproduce the winning entries on various printed materials such as note books, calendars and drawing pads whereby 10% from the sale of these materials will be donated to NCC to support one of its projects in 2018.

Dr Erna Athanasius, the Ambassador for Women and Children expressed gratitude for the opportunity to provide a platform for school children as well as youth to express themselves through art  to bring peace, love and friendship as they see it to all of us.

‘’I pray that your home, your school, your community, your friends and those you love inspire you to create artistic pieces that can touch everyone. Let the theme of peace, love, and friendship shine through your work and touch your families, your school and your communities so that everyone is inspired to live in peace, making our country and the world a better place’’, Dr Athanasius said.

Jean-Claude Matombe, chief executive of NCC, expressed his delight to be working with Printhouse.

“We both have a common objective in terms of promoting positive messages to our youths and thus, it made sense to team up with an established printer like Printhouse on this project and the theme complements other country wide efforts aimed at bringing a positive change in our youths.  We are really looking forward to receiving and judging the entries and as the competition itself is open to a wider skills set, we are expecting a high level of participation,” said Mr Matombe.

In concluding, both Mrs d’Offay and Mr Matombe called on all parents to encourage their children to take part in the Kre-Enspire creative competition that will not only benefit the participants themselves in terms of showcasing their talents and prizes but other Seychellois children through the NCC projects.

For more information about the competition interested individuals can contact NCC or the Printhouse.
