Seychelles Breweries Retailer Excellence programme prize giving ceremony |25 September 2017

Beau Vallon Supermarket star prize winner

Beau Vallon Supermarket at Beau Vallon is the star prize winner of the second Seychelles Breweries (SBL) Retailer Excellence Programme.

The supermarket won R50,000 worth of prizes with R20,000 worth of Seybrew beer and R30,000 to be invested in the shop by SBL. It also won a trophy to be displayed in the supermarket.

It was V.T. Ramesh Pillay of Beau Vallon Supermarket who collected the prize from Simon Harvey, chairman of the SBL board, during a ceremony held last week at the local brewery premises at Le Rocher.

Present were board members of SBL and associated Diageo visitors and retailers.

There were three other prizes up for grabs that day with Kot Dalon, La Misère winning R30,000 worth of prizes with R10,000 worth of Seybrew and R20,000 to be invested by SBL in the shop. The shop’s owner received his prize from Nicholas Cook, SBL’s managing director.

Second prize went to Sekaar supermarket at Takamaka who won R20,000 worth of prizes of which R10,000 worth of Seybrew and SBL investing R10,000 in the shop.

Third prize went to Ramu Store who won R10,000 worth of Seybrew.

All winners also received SBL trinkets to show the company’s appreciation.

The criteria for the programme are for the shops to have a good chiller, availability and a certain volume of all Seybrew products and display of these products in an attractive format. A video presentation showcasing winners also formed part of the evening.

The programme was launched in October last year and next year the company says it will be on a higher level where more attractive prizes will be on offer like a car, scooter, and air tickets.

“I have been a retailer for twelve years. As a child I used to work with my father in the shop during the school holidays. I did not really do anything extra. It was all about staff collaboration and our love we put in the business, where we put our clients first, which made us win the prize. As my Seybrew products were very well displayed in very clean containers, the SBL staff who did the checking really appreciated that,” said Ramesh of Beau Vallon Supermarket.

Daphne Raoul, commercial director at SBL, said her job is helping her customers and retailers to grow.

“To all retailers who have participated in the programme, you are all winners. It’s been tough, it’s been difficult and we know there are many people maybe new to the business, new in the shop, we also probably have new members of our team – it’s been an integration of us and you. We are all partners in this journey together,” she said, adding that SBL wants to stop the habit of being policemen in their shops as the company wants all of them to be happy.

“Our business is not the same without you. Tonight is the celebration of the loyalty you have given us to talk to you about a new retailer excellence programme, rewarding loyalty even further,” said Mr Cook in a short remark for the occasion.

He said the journey with SBL has been more positive; it has become more consistent with supply, the quality of its products is rising and is really pleased with the progress it is making.

To conclude, he officially launched the new retailer excellence programme for next year.

“We had a retailer excellence programme one. We launch retailer excellence programme two tonight. And I’d like it to get stronger, stronger and stronger. And to do that we need your support. We need our business to grow and we need to continue to drive the investment towards you and that support towards you,” he said while asking the retailers to also support SBL.

“There’s a huge opportunity for us to grow together so that we can continue to invest in you,” he said.
