National Assembly - No sitting this week due to foreign missions |17 October 2017

The National Assembly of Seychelles has announced that there will be no sitting today and tomorrow in view of the fact that several members will be away on overseas missions.

A delegation from the National Assembly headed by the Speaker are attending the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly Session being held in St Petersburg, Russia from October 13-18, 2017 under the general debate of ‘Promoting Cultural Pluralism and Peace through Inter-Faith and Inter-Ethnic Dialogue’.

The Speaker is accompanied by the leader of government business, Charles de Commarmond, Jany Letourdie, Waven William, Tania Isaac (deputy Clerk) and Terry Romain, personal assistant to the Speaker.

The IPU Assembly is the principal statutory body that expresses the views of the Inter-Parliamentary Union on political issues. It brings together parliamentarians to study international problems and make recommendations for action.
