Jacob Madeleine launches National Unity song |21 October 2017

Famous poet, song writer, singer and unity advocate Jacob Terence Madeleine Aka Tens has launched a new single entitled Sanson Linite Nasyonal.

The song which will promote unity, peace, and cohabitation in our country was launched yesterday at the Mayor’s Office, Victoria in the presence of the Mayor of Victoria David André, among other guests.

The unity song was recorded at Relations Studio, La Misère, and features famous singer Katty (Melanie) Samson, and a very talented young secondary school girl Michella Barbier, which represents the youth in spearheading the National Unity process of Seychelles.

Speaking to Seychelles NATION before the launch Mr Madeleine stated that the song will promote unity in our country.

“Recently I wrote a poem for National Day entitled Mon Kontan Sesel, and I took the poem and transformed it into a song. I wanted to spread the message of love, peace, unity and cohabitation in our small country.  We need to be united, and share our ideas, knowledge so that we can become a powerful strong country,” he said.

For his part Mayor André said that we need to support our local artists who want to bring this country forward.

“Mr Madeleine is one of my ex-students at the English River school. I totally support him in his endeavour to promote peace, love and unity in our country. We all live in the same country, and we should all have the same focus, that is to restore unity among all of us. We need to understand each other and be willing to work together so that Seychelles can move forward,” he said.

The song has been sponsored by the National Arts Council (NAC). The single also features a carnival song that he recorded last year and which will promote this year’s Laserenad Enternasyonal.
