Sisters enjoy tea and cupcakes with the President |21 October 2017

Sisters of the St Joseph de Cluny convent were enthusiastically received by President Danny Faure at State House yesterday morning.

The group of nuns had cordially been invited for a guided tour of State House following the president’s visit to their convent last Sunday.

Before beginning their tour the nuns were hosted to some tea and refreshments, and also interacted with President Faure.

The provincial leader of St Joseph de Cluny in Seychelles, Sister Maria-Nita, said not much was talked about during the brief welcoming reception as most of their pressing issues had already been discussed in the previous meeting.

She also stated that her colleagues had been looking forward to the visit because, for the majority of them, it would be the first time they have done so.

“I think we are all a bit excited, even I am although I have been here before. However, there are certain places I have never seen such as the meeting and dining area. It is definitely a memorable moment for us all,” Sister Maria-Nita remarked.

Indeed their time at the State House is not likely to be forgotten anytime soon, especially since the nuns were prized with a book about the Seychelles as a souvenir.

The State House garden, tortoise park and statue of Quéau de Quincy were among some of the other areas the nuns had the opportunity to explore.
