Centre for Geographical Information System (GIS)
- The Centre for Geographical Information System officially came into being in the mid-1990s.
- The Centre for GIS provides the following services:
- Production of Orthophoto maps
- Custodian of spatial data
- In-house GIS training
- Support to GIS users
- Promotes the concepts of the GIS through workshops, seminars demonstration and publications
- The Centre for GIS is the body mandated by the government to create, store, manipulate and share spatial data on a digital platform.
- WebGIS, a combination of World Wide Web (www) and geographical information systems (GIS), is a paradigm for how people everywhere access and use geographic information. Its functionality is made available through a regular web browser and an integrated viewer with a user-friendly GIS interface.
