Major global recognition for our dialysis unit |24 October 2017

The Renal Care unit within the Seychelles Hospital under AMSA Renal Care Seychelles has been declared the Best Healthcare Unit in Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the Middle East and African (MEA) region.

This was during the GCC Africa Healthcare Leadership Awards held in Dubai last week.

Patient transport provided by AMSA Renal Care Seychelles Pty Ltd has also been awarded as the best CSR Practice in Healthcare in the region.

It should be noted that since the inception of PPP in Renal Care in April 2015, there has been a wave of positive changes in the dialysis unit.

A thrilled Ranjan Chakraborty, who is heading AMSA’s global operations, mentioned how AMSA has continued to improve the quality of renal care in the last two and half years, going far beyond its contractual obligations of just providing dialysis.

Since inception it has maintained a zero procedure related mortality rate and zero seroconversion rate.

In a recent survey conducted by Ministry of Health the dialysis facility had the highest compliance on universal precautions for infection control in the hospital.

AMSA has conducted numerous events in the last two and half years, like kidney and health screening in schools and old-age homes as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

A proud Mr Chakraborty said: “I do not know of any other country in the world that provides transport to all its patients completely free of cost. AMSA has made that possible for the dialysis patients in Seychelles”.

Our correspondent spoke to a few patients who seemed to be very happy with the quality of services and with the healthy Creole food that is provided.

The number of patients has increased at an alarming rate in the last two years. AMSA is ready to invest in the planned expansion of the dialysis unit with 10 more machines and a new RO unit.

The space for the new unit designated by the Ministry of Health almost 15 months back seems to be finally ready to be handed over to AMSA.
