Luke Miller leaves for triathlon training camp in Agadir |03 November 2017

 

Luke Miller has left for Agadir, Morocco to follow a training camp at the International Triathlon Union/African Triathlon Union youth development camp from November 1-8, 2017.

Miller won the Ocean Festival Triathlon organised by the Seychelles Triathlon Federation at Anse Royale in December last year.

He is accompanied buy his coach Joseph Clothilde.

The National Sports Council (NSC) has sponsored one airfare ticket covering his coach, plus the transportation of the bicycle, while the Moroccan is sponsoring accommodation, meals and transport for both Miller and his coach during the period they are at the camp.

Luke has thanked the NSC, the Seychelles Triathlon Federation, the Moroccan NF and all his other sponsors including H Savy Insurance, AV Group, Chem Plus as well as friends and family who have helped in making this trip possible.

Miller will be taking part in the African Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria from July 17-27, 2017 and during the training camp, the athletes will an opportunity to prepare as best as possible for this event.

At the African Youth Games in Algiers, the triathlon events will consisting of an individual event of 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run and also a mixed team relay event over short distance to be confirmed.

A press communiqué from International Triathlon Union/African Triathlon Union writes: “It is our future intention to create a Team Africa nucleus of young athletes to also move on to junior, under-23 and hopefully elite levels of competition.”

The African Youth Games will serve as qualification event for the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Buenos Aires in October 2018.
