The Cancer Concern Association (CCA) has renewed its confidence in the organisation’s chairperson Bishop French Chang-Him and in its management committee.

Bishop Chang-Him was re-elected chairman and Josie Michaud-Payet has kept her position as vice-chairperson. Geneviève André and Bernadette Furneau remain respectively secretary and treasurer.

The other committee members are Merna Eulentin, Maggie Bristol, Emelyn Shroff, Meryl Clothilde, Patricia Francourt and Bernadette Laurence.

The election took place during the association’s 18th general meeting (GM) held on Saturday at the Exiles Club.

During the meeting members present were able to interact and discuss on the new Oncology Unit that will be opening on December 6, 2017.

The meeting started with a spiritual reflection with the focus on faith and also the chairman’s report by Bishop French Chang Him, with a review of the activities carried out throughout the year.

“We have been in existence since 1999, and we started with only 75 members. Today we have grown to 600 members spread over Mahé, Praslin and La Digue. With the help of God and so many wonderful individuals we have achieved a lot throughout the year, and soon we will have an Oncology Unit which will be in operation very soon,” he said.

Throughout the year, the CCA hosted different kinds of activities such as the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for renovation of the Oncology Unit; donation from Ephelia Resort with the proceeds from Pink Day fundraising activity; prize giving ceremony for poem competition launched at the last AGM among other activities.

There were also reports from Praslin and La Digue which have contributed a lot in the past years to make the CCA a success.

The CCA’s main project for 2018 is a media campaign that will be led by Multi-Media House and Daman Consulting.
