‘Impact Seychelles’ starts today |07 December 2017

The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, most precisely the Youth Department, will be launching the ‘Impact Seychelles’  today on Praslin.

Suchinitiative is geared towards making a difference by impacting the lives of people in our communities, under the theme ‘Strengthening capacity for effective strategy in preventing social ills and addiction’.

Organisations such as the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (Ceps), the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) and Red Cross have collaborated with the SDAC for this programme to become a reality.

In the wake of so many destructive attitude and mind-sets in the society, the SDAC has recognised that more needs to be done to address the status quo.

The communication secretary for Youth at the SDA, Rosana Ernesta, stated that the programme aims at the youths and adults to combat bad influence.

“We are targeting mostly the youths and some adults, to provide them with the necessary knowledge to combat drug addiction among other bad influences affecting our community. We are also organising conferences to provide them with more basic advice how to combat bullying among other issues,” she said.

With the aim of combating the fight against drug addiction, juvenile delinquency which is becoming ever more present in our country, the church has decided to step up the fight and take positive and timely action.

The Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture Mitcy Larue will officially launch the programme this afternoon.

The initiative itself is two-fold: the first phase is taking place today on Praslin till December 10, while the second phase will take place on Mahé in April 2018.
