SNYC rewards outstanding young people |12 December 2017

Neryl Fanchette from the Seychelles Business Studies Academy has been rewarded as the best overall youth during the year 2017.

“During the year I have participated in so many activities locally and internationally. I represented my country and made Seychelles proud. I will advise all young people to keep pushing forward and that hard works pays off,” she said.

This was during the Seychelles National Youth Council’s (SNYC) Seychelles Youth Award which rewards young people whose contributions to society have been outstanding during the year.

The ceremony took place last weekend at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort in the presence of the Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture Mitcy Larue, the principal secretary for youth and sports Fabien Palmyre, the chief executive of SNYC Alvin Laurence, SNYC board members, youth workers, parents and the young people themselves.

The positive youth image award rewards exemplary conduct in secondary and post-secondary. For the secondary category the winners were: Pria Chavda (Plaisance), Jean Lebon (Independent School), Maryssa Samedi (Beau Vallon), Hamellie Estro (English River), Zerane Ah-Kon (Belonie), Chanine Vidot (Anse Boileau), Marion Philo (Praslin), Joanne Laurette (Mont Fleuri), Lennie Celestine (Anse Royale), Cathy Gabriel (La Digue) and Elma Albert (Pointe Larue).

For post-secondary institutions, the same award was distributed to Stephane Esparon (National Institute of Health and Social Studies), Andrea Marguerite (Seychelles Maritime Academy), Kelly Barbé (Seychelles Institute of Arts and Design), Samuel Marie (Seychelles Police Academy), Jenifer Zialor (Seychelles Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture), Darell Uranie (UniSey), Nery Fanchette (Seychelles Business Studies Academy), Roberto Boniface (Seychelles Tourism Academy), Joshua Sofola (School of Advanced Level Studies), Daran Marimba (Seychelles Institute of Technology) and Neil Leon (Seychelles Institute of Teacher Education).

The young animator’s award which rewards community involvement went to: Vanessa Joubert (Anse Aux Pins), Gilles William (Anse Boileau), Andria Auguste (Anse Royale), Kimberly Marie (Anse Etoile), Anissa Dick (Au Cap), Manuella Morel (Baie Lazare), Raphaella Dugasse (Baie Ste Anne), Rodney Jeremie (Beau Vallon), Ria Alcindor (Bel Air), Daniel Vidot (Bel Ombre), Ricky Pool (Cascade), Efna Cesar (English River), Shamira Basset (Glacis), Maureen Labrosse (Grand Anse Mahé), Ivan Vidot (Grand Anse Praslin), Elyjah Asmane (Ile Perseverance), Marvis Leon (Les Mamelles), Manuela Charlette (La Digue), Fabien Bijoux (Mont Buxton), Rodney Bonne (Mont Fleuri), Mercia Sifflore (Plaisance), Travis Quatre (Pointe Larue), Anthony Cadence (Port Glaud), Ashley Dias (Roche Caïman), Shamilla Isnard (St Louis) and Elsa Azemia (Takamaka).

In his remarks, Mr Laurence said this proud life-changing moment will help the recipients move forward in their career or education.
