NSC best overall sport organisation |14 December 2017

 

 

 

It was responsible for the running of the organisations’ sport league and still it was able to field teams in all the various disciplines to be able to win the best overall prize.

The National Sports Council (NSC) took the most important prize during the organisations’ sport league prize-giving ceremony on Saturday night at the Golden Plate restaurant.

It finished first overall ahead of runner-up Constance Lemuria and third place finisher Seychelles Trading Company (STC).

Open to all working organisations, the organisations’ sports league was organised by the Seychelles Workers Association for Sports and Health (SWASH) in collaboration with the NSC

The various sports included seven-a-side football, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s tug of war and dominoes. Matches took place at the Mont Fleuri playing field after normal working hours on Fridays.

On top of winning the overall prize, NSC won the women’s volleyball on Mahé and the grand final with Juliette Ah-Wan taking home the best player title. It also finished as runner-up in the men’s volleyball on Mahé and in the grand final.

With best player Jeffrey Emanuel in its ranks, Seychelles Trading Company (STC) won the men’s volleyball league on Mahé as well as the grand final. The Self-Employed team from Praslin finished third.

After winning the men’s football tournament on Mahé, the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) met inner-islands winner Constance Lemuria in the grand final and won.

The Lions’ midfielder Rashim Padayachy scored 13 goals for the MCB team to finish as the top scorer and teammate Alvin Nicette was named the best player.

Seychelles Land Transport Agency (SLTA) was ranked third in the seven-a-side football competition.

The domino competition was won by the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) ahead of runner-up SLTA and third place finisher Constance Lemuria.

Ephelia Resort won the prize for best overall participation.

Constance Lemuria’s Andrew Germain was the best scorer with five goals in the inner islands’ league and his teammate Selwyn Cafrine was voted the best player. As for Chris Marie of the Self-Employed team, he was named the best male volleyballer of the inner islands.
