Kempinski welcomes festive season with glittering tree-lighting ceremony |18 December 2017

Last Friday, guests at Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare were invited to attend the hotel’s annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in a glittering ceremony under the stars.

Hotel guests, both young and old, were dazzled as an enormous floating Christmas tree lit up the night from its position in the centre of the hotel’s private lagoon.

Angelic choruses from Baie Lazare’s St Francis choir declared the festive season officially open as sparkling wine and Christmas treats were passed around for all to enjoy.

“We are incredibly honoured that our guests have chosen to spend this very special time of year with us,” said general manager Masami Egami.

“We intend to make this festive season a memorable one, blending the best of our tropical traditions with remarkable European flair.”

Kempinski’s floating Christmas Tree is quite unique to Seychelles, standing at over 26ft tall and weighing an impressive 250kg. It took a team of four people seven days to erect the towering tree, which can be seen shimmering on the hotel’s lagoon every evening this December.
