For the first time ever, children from various orphanages were hosted to a special dinner by President Danny Faure at State House last night.

They included some 80 children living in different orphanages such as President’s Village, Foyer de la Solitude, Foyer de Nazareth and Foyer de la Providence.

For some of the children it was the first time they come to State House and were thrilled to have felt such experience and to have had the opportunity to meet President Faure.

The Minister for Family Affairs Jeanne Simeon was also present and welcomed the children at State House.

“Christmas is all about harmony and peace; we have organised this activity to bring Christmas cheer to the children from all the orphanages. In every culture we celebrate such important moment, and Seychelles also celebrates Christmas with our children and give them the spotlight that they deserve,” she said.

The children from Foyer de Nazareth also showcased their ability by singing Christmas songs and entertaining the gathering.

After a sumptuous dinner and dessert, the children were presented with Christmas gifts by Santa Claus.

Before coming to State House, the children attended the Nativity play and Carols at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) – see separate story.

Contrary to past years when the children from the orphanages were presented with their Christmas gifts during the Nativity play and Carols at ICCS, this year the organisers decided to make it special, and gave the children their gift at State House.
