Pillay R Group hosts Christmas lunch for the less fortunate |26 December 2017

A group of less fortunate children were able to rejoice this Christmas through an annual lunch organised by Pillay R group.

The 40 children were from Foyer de la Providence, Foyer de la Solitude and Foyer de Nazareth.

This special Christmas lunch has been taking place for over 10 years and this time the gathering was held at Asian Fusion, Au Cap.

The Minister for Health Jean-Paul Adam who was present, spent time with the children and handed over gifts to them together with Father Chrismas.

Minister Adam thanked Pillay R Group and his team who continuously support the less fortunate and has now made this event a tradition.

He also emphasised on the importance of Christmas which is to recognise the spirit of giving during the birth of Jesus Christ.

“We should think of ways to enrich the lives of others instead of our own. We should remember that what is given to make the lives of others better is more important during this festive season,” he said.

Minister Adam also recognised and thanked those who work with the children in all the homes. Therefore the caretakers also received gifts.

The chairman of Pillay R Group Ramu Pillay said they will remain committed to supporting the orphanages.

“We do this to make the children happy because we know that they enjoy this event and we get pleasure out of mingling with them and I brought my family along to spend time with them,” he said.

Sister Marie Suzanne Rasoanjanahary said: “We are very happy that they think of us every year and the children enjoy going out of the house for Christmas.”
