Tea party for less fortunate children |30 December 2017

Some 30 less fortunate children from across the country were able to enjoy a special tea time at the Seychelles International Airport yesterday afternoon.

The children who were from Foyer de la Providence, Foyer de Nazareth, Foyer de la Solitude and President’s Village were able to experience the joyful spirit of Christmas with cookies and other treats together with Santa Claus.

In the Skychef Airport restaurant, the children were also able to take photos with Santa Claus and they received little Christmas goodies such as cupcakes and soaps to take back home.

The hour long event was jointly organised by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and Skychef as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The initiative is part of the SCAA’s Christmas Jamboree activity for this year with Skychef as the sponsoring partner providing snacks and beverages for the event.

The SCAA marketing manager Sharon Gappy said since the SCAA Christmas fair was not held this year they saw this charitable gesture focusing on the less fortunate children fitting during the Christmas season as it was the perfect time to give back to the community.

“We chose the orphanages to bring some smiles and festive spirit to the children and in this initiative Sky chef provided the treats while SCAA provided the gifts to the children,” she said.

She said they are planning to host this event next year with another group of children.

Skychef food and beverage manager Eslam Edris said the board directors are very big supporters of the community.

“So during Christmas we like sharing the joyful spirit with everyone,” he said.

A representative of the President’s Village Jeanin Lawen expressed her gratitude on behalf of all the homes.

“The children feel very privileged to be able to spend this hour out of the village along with children of the other homes. We would like to thank the organisers for this opportunity and all the other events organised for the children during this festive season as the kids enjoy the opportunity to meet and mingle with new people,” he said.

A 13-year-old girl from the Village said they are very happy for this initiative.

“There are other children who don’t get this type of opportunities and we are grateful, so we hope these children are able to enjoy this festive season,” she said.
