STC lottery draw - Michael Pouponneau wins R100,000 |30 December 2017

Anse Boileau resident Michael Pouponneau is the lucky star prize winner of the Seychelles Trading Company loyalty card Christmas lottery.

Mr Pouponneau was presented his cheque for R100,000 by Seychelles Trading Company (STC) chief executive Christine Joubert, yesterday afternoon at the STC conference room in the presence of other winners of the end of December loyalty card lottery.

The STC lottery is hosted quarterly when an STC customer accumulates over 5,000 points on their loyalty card accompanied with frequent shopping at STC outlets with a minimum of four times a month.

As for the second lottery, the special Christmas lottery which has been hosted since 2014, it is for all loyalty card members who purchase lottery tickets by redeeming 300 loyalty points.

Five return tickets worth up to R10,000 were also won along with travel allowances in the special Christmas lottery draw where the first prize went to Jean Claude Lajoie, followed by Marc Chang Lam (second), Therese Labonte (third), Suzanne Valmont (fourth) and Jeanette Dufrene (fifth).

For the quarterly loyalty card lottery, Seylina Verghese won a return air ticket to any regional destination as first prize, while Lyndy Jean-Baptiste received a one night stay for two at AVANI resort and Spa along with a Samsung A3 phone.

The third prize which was a 32-inch LED TV with a home theatre went to Erica Roucou, while seven other loyal STC customers walked away with very interesting prizes including gas cookers, electric oven, a Philips hand blender, splash jewellery set, internet connection and subscription, a laptop, a Samsung A4 phone among others.

Ms Joubert also presented tokens of appreciation to the various sponsors and partners who have contributed towards the lottery including Cable & Wireless (CWS), Airtel, Intelvision, AVANI Barbarons, Eden Bleu Hotel, Nash Holdings, Trois Frères Distillery, along with two international suppliers Hassani and Danone.

Mr Pouponneau was very happy and said it was a surprise to win the star prize.

“The day before yesterday I received a phone call from STC informing me that I was among the winners of the lottery and I thought I had something like a bottle of whisky although my wife kept insisting that I had won a bigger prize,” he said.

In fact, Mr Pouponneau, who is 75 years old, received the phone call on his birthday which he celebrated on December 27.

He said this is the first prize he has ever won in his life and he felt overwhelmed when his name was called for the star prize.

“I wanted to cry and the first thing I will do with the money is donate R10,000 to my church ‒ the Christ Embassy, and as for the rest, I will discuss with my wife what we will do with it,” he said.
