Vision Care commemorates fifteenth anniversary |08 January 2018

The new look!

Vision Care’s Riverside Mont Fleuri branch now has a brand new look after renovation works were carried out to make it more appealing and pleasant to its clients.

The shop which was celebrating its fifteenth anniversary in 2017 since its official opening in 2002 has come up with a more modern and brighter look to mark the occasion.

Vision Care has three other outlets on Mahé -- one located at Unity House, another at STC Hypermarket and one at Eden Island. The Praslin branch is located at Grand Anse.

We spoke to Sven Mehlhorn, the branch manager of the Riverside shop, speaking on behalf of the director of Vision Care, Hermann Holst.

“The shop was showing signs of wear and tear, where things started to look old. Therefore, for our fifteen-year anniversary we decided to renovate the shop and give it a new look, by changing its colour scheme, making it more modern and brighter. We basically offer the same products and services as before but we are now operating in a more conducive, more pleasant and warm, welcoming atmosphere,” said Sven when talking about the renovation.

He said the shop was closed from December 1 to 20, 2017 for the renovation works, and now customers are very happy with the new look.

“They were very impressed and gave us positive feedback on the new-look,” said Sven.

Another new addition to the shop’s interior is a more energy efficient air conditioning system, and the old lighting system has now been replaced by new modern LED lights.

“These old electricity appliances were also one of the reasons we decided to do something in that direction. The new environmentally-friendly equipment has also allowed us to reduce costs in electricity consumption,” he said.

With regards to Vision Care sunglasses on sale at the shop, Sven said they try to offer branded products from renown worldwide brands like Ray Ban, Oakley, Dolce & Gabbana, to name some, which have a certain standard of quality. But the store also offers cheaper brands which have 100% UVA protection, though they are not branded names.

“You basically get a safe product which you do not normally have when you buy sunglasses at R100,” he said.

Vision Care also offers after-sales service. If, for example, your glasses are broken, you can always come back to Vision Care, where they can adjust it or do the necessary repair on them.

“We don’t only sell things, we also do manufacturing,” he added.

Sven said Vision Care offers comprehensive eye tests where they check for diseases like glaucoma, diabetes, retinopathy and other abnormalities associated with the eye. Basically, he said, a full check-up on the health of the eye is done.

Vision Care also offers a special service for kids called ‘Kids Vision' for children from 5 to 12 years old where they get a free eye test and can purchase a pair of glasses for as low as R250.
