Crowdfunding new tropicbird research is underway |15 January 2018

Dr Annette Fayet, a junior researcher at Queen’s College, Oxford, was

crowdfunding for a very exciting tropicbird tagging project for Aldabra in December last year. Over the last few years Aldabra has seen declines in red-

tailed tropicbirds (Phaethon rubricauda) but the reason for this is not clear. Annette used state-of-the-art technology to track the feeding movements of tropicbirds to understand where they feed, what they feed on, and how this may

relate to their breeding success. SIF has described the project a priority for the foundation.
