The objective of the workshop is to give all members a broader understanding of civil society in the modern world, the role of civic leaders in dealing with social issues and evaluation of process of developing a new strategic plan for Ceps for the upcoming years.

The mission of Ceps unfolds into relevant working themes, which include: providing common ground for civil society participation in development, enabling overall growth and development of the civil society sector, capacity development, inter-organisational/sector networking and liaison, partnership facilitation, policy engagement and the delivery of some essential services to the sector.

Mr Fred said that the workshop will allow all the members to better understand the role that Ceps is playing in our society.

“It is important to learn more about the role of the civil society in Seychelles. The world is changing and we need to start making some changes of our own.

Such workshop will allow us to evaluate ourselves over the past three years, and discuss a new strategic plan for the upcoming years. It is vital that all members have a good understanding of social change and adapt to those changes currently happening,” he said.

They are about 25 Ceps members taking part in the workshop and the facilitator is Sheila Mohideen from the Guy Morel Institute.

The Ceps was created on November 8, 2014 through a dissolution and establishment vote by the General Assembly of the Liaison Unit of Non-Governmental Organisations of Seychelles (Lungos).

Lungos was a platform for non-governmental organisations, whereas Ceps is a platform for civil society.
