Parti Lepep elects branch committees in districts |22 February 2018

• “Elected leaders must convey the demands and feelings of the people in their respective district,” says deputy SG Simon Gill

Last weekend Parti Lepep (PL) elected their branch committees in some districts, which will become the vehicle of transmission of the views and ideas in every district.

Almost all the districts were able to take part except for Grand Anse due to personal reasons. Its branch election will take place this weekend.

The candidates who were elected are people from PL who are capable of implementing the policies of the party and fulfilling the wishes and feelings of the people in their respective district.

The committee of each district will now consist of seven members, compared to six as was the case before. It will be headed by a chairman who will then appoint a secretary, a treasurer and a secretary for political education. The three other members will be ordinary members.

The deputy secretary general of PL, Simon Gill, said he is satisfied with the number of loyal supporters who came out to vote.

“The election went well, only one district was not able to take part due to personal reasons, but this weekend it will be able to do so. Elected leaders must convey the demands and feelings of the people in their respective district. The party feels that it is important to have a good dialogue between the people and their leaders through established political structures as well as the proper coordination of its activities at branch level,” he said.

It was during its recent congress that the party decided to go back to electing the leaders of the branch committees aimed at improving the efficiency of consultation between the people, through their branches, the central executive committee and party secretariat.

The elected chairpersons are Meggy Marie (Anse Aux Pins), Roger Alphonse (Anse Boileau), Terrence Crea (Anse Etoile), Sylvanne Lemiel (Anse Royale), Maizline Esther (Au Cap), Barbara Camille (Baie Lazare), Churchill Gill (Baie Ste Anne Praslin), Mirena Souris (Beau Vallon), Dorothy Felix (Bel Air), Prisca Julienne (Bel Ombre), Sabrina Marie (Cascade), Wilbert Herminie (English River), Shelda Commettant (Glacis), Alvin Grandcourt (Grand Anse Praslin), Noline Sophola (Inner Islands), Jill Emile (Les Mamelles), Robert David (Mont Buxton), Lindy Cesar (Mont Fleuri), Ivy Edmond (Plaisance), Jude Valmont (Pointe Larue) and Audrey Vidot (Roche Caïman), Francis Coeur de Lion (St Louis) and Paul Ernesta (Takamaka).
