STA renews 10-year-old accord with Constance Training Academy |22 February 2018

The Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA) and Constance Hospitality Training Centre are this year celebrating 10 years of successful partnership and to mark this milestone, the two institutions have signed an agreement to renew their partnership.

This was during a short ceremony at the Ministry for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine at Botanical House yesterday morning.

The two institutions have renewed their agreement that was signed in 2008, 2011 and 2013. But this time the agreement includes a third party;  the Shannon College of Hotel Management of the National University of Ireland.

The very first agreement signed by the STA in 2008 was by Ambassador Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, who was then the chief executive of the STB and he signed on behalf of the Seychelles government.

Ten years later it is again Ambassador Loustau-Lalanne, but in his capacity as Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports & Marine, who signed on behalf of the Seychelles government.

Claude Narain, the general manager of Constance Hospitality Training Centre, signed for the institution while Brigitte Joubert, manager of studies for the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management at STA, signed on behalf of Shannon College of Hotel Management.

The agreement provides for exchange programmes of both staff and students between the three institutions.

Shannon College sends its students on internship all over the world including Seychelles.  With this partnership it will now be able to send its students on internship to Mauritius in Constance Hotels.

Minister Loustau-Lalanne highlighted, commended and recognised the great assistance constantly received from Constance Academy and he expressed gratitude to Mr Narrain who is also the patron of the STA, a role he said Mr Narrain continues to play with great dedication and professionalism.

“The government has invested a lot to bring the STA where it is today and I want to reaffirm the commitment of the government to continue to invest in the STA to ensure we improve the standard of excellence in services and for this we need partners like yourselves,” Minister Loustau-Lalanne said.

“By signing this memorandum of understanding we are bonding ourselves for closer collaboration with the STA,” Mr Narrain said, assuring Minister Loustau-Lalanne that Constance Hospitality Training Centre will always stand by the STA.

For her part Ms Joubert, speaking in her capacity as the Shannon College representative, thanked everyone who has made the agreement possible.

The principal of the STA, Flavien Joubert, wished the new agreement success for the next 10 years.
