It is conducted every two years, and so far seven such joint exercises have been held in Seychelles, with the last one taking place in February 2016.

Exercise ‘Lamitye-2018’ will run for eight days on Mahé, with the two forces  engaged in combined training with a view to enhancing interoperability while carrying out counter-terrorism, anti-piracy and anti-narcotic operation to include anti-hostage operations on land and at sea. The exercise will provide an opportunity to both sides for sharing experiences and learning from each other.

The joint training/exercise will see the active participation of local Special Forces, Coast Guard and Air Force. The Indian army contingent from the 4/3 Gorkha Rifles will arrive in Seychelles on February 23, 2018 and depart on March 4, 2018. Theory and practical sessions will be conducted jointly by both forces from February 24 to March 1, 2018.

The joint training will culminate with a field training exercise (FTX) on Mahé, from midday on March 2, 2018 to the same time the following day.
