Five best tourism students to get sponsorship for further studies |22 February 2018

The Constance Academy and Hotels will partially be sponsoring further education for five best performers from the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA).

This is through an agreement signed between the Agency for National Human Resource Development (ANHRD) and the Constance Academy and Hotels.

The document was signed by the general manager (GM) of Constance Academy Claude Narain and the chief executive (CEO) of ANHRD Nadia Lauricourt during a cocktail dinatoire held on Tuesday on the occasion of the renewal of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between STA and Constance Academy and Hotels as well as the 10th anniversary of the partnership.

This new agreement forms part of the commitment made by President Danny Faure in his state-of-the-nation address where he said “starting from this year onwards, we will introduce a system ensuring that the five best students in each post secondary institution will be offered an opportunity to further their studies”.

The further studies may be through an educational institution overseas, or an internship or placement in a commercial firm where the student can gain exposure and experience which will stand them in good stead once they join the world of work.

The Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Maurice Loustau-Lalanne and the STA principal Flavien Joubert said words of acknowledgment to Mr Narain and made remarks on the partnership.

As Mr Narain celebrates 54 years in the tourism and hospitality industry and 20 years as the head of the academy, Minister Loustau-Lalanne and Mr Joubert presented him with a token of appreciation as well as a coco-de-mer.

Mr Narain then expressed his gratitude and shared his journey about how he reached where he is now and how he looks forward to working in partnership with ANHRD and strengthening the MoU with STA for the next ten years.

Ms Lauricourt said they expect to send the first batch of students in August this year.
