State-of-the-nation address today |06 March 2018

President Danny Faure will deliver his annual State-of-the-Nation address today before the National Assembly.

This will mark the first sitting of the National Assembly for 2018.

President Faure will deliver his address at 5pm and it will be broadcast live on television and radio.

However, the Assembly will meet earlier in the morning, at 9am, for an Extraordinary Sitting for the election of a new Speaker followed by the administration of the oath of allegiance for Philip Arissol as the newly elected member for the district of Anse Boileau.

Following the President’s address, the National Assembly will reconvene on Friday March 9 for the replies, which will begin with that of the leader of the opposition and the leader of government business followed by other members.
