Seychelles Agricultural Agency gets new CEO |09 March 2018

 

 

 

President Danny Faure has appointed Linetta Estico as the new chief executive of the Seychelles Agricultural Agency (SAA) for a period of three years.

Mrs Estico has had a long career in Agriculture.  After graduating in Horticulture in 1988, she started work as a horticulturist in the Indian Ocean Nursery Ltd. 

She became a Research Officer, and later a Senior Research Officer and Head of the Information Unit in the Ministry of Agriculture in 1991.

In 2003 she was appointed director of Agricultural Extension Services, and in 2007 she was appointed director of Agricultural Lands Management.

Mrs Estico was appointed deputy CEO of the SAA in November 2016, a post she has been holding until her new promotion yesterday.

President Faure has also thanked Finley Racombo who has now retired from the post of CEO of the SAA after over 45 years of dedicated public service in the agriculture and fisheries sectors.

Mr Racombo started work in the department of Agriculture in 1972. Following his Masters Degree training in Cuba, he was appointed director of Crop Development in 1989.  In 1994 he was promoted to director general, before becoming the principal secretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources in March 1995.

In 2012, Mr Racombo was appointed as CEO of the Seychelles Fishing Authority, and in 2015 he became special advisor to the Minister for Agriculture.  In November 2016 he was appointed as CEO of the SAA, with Mrs Estico as his deputy.
