SCCI relocates its head office to Providence |16 March 2018

The Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has relocated its head office to the HIS building at Providence.

The new chamber was officially inaugurated by the Minister for Industry, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Innovation Wallace Cosgrow in the presence of SCCI members and other guests.

The acting chairman of SCCI, Oliver Bastienne, stated that the new premises will bring a new start to SCCI and all its members.

“The SCCI is continually striving to reinvent itself and will go from strength to strength to remain relevant and consistent in its mandate like working for the benefits of entrepreneurs while significantly contributing to the economy,” Mr Bastienne said.

He explained that the recent state-of-the-nation address further demonstrates that SCCI as an institution must aim to live up to its new mandate which is to serve as the voice of the private sector and advocate to pursue economic  and excellence through strong leadership, collaboration and unity.

He added that such new premises will benefit all the members of SCCI as it is now located in a more comfortable environment.

“The project to search for the re-location of a new head office started a few years back and has now become a reality. It needed the energy and the spirit of partnership and of course the hard work of our members and the local business community,” Mr Bastienne said.

He noted that it is quite remarkable to realise what SCCI has achieved in such a short period of time as no chamber of commerce  can exist without the active participation and the support of its members.

The new premises has a conference room, waiting area, reception and offices for its secretary general, a secretary, an accountant, a public relations officer and an administration officer.

During the inauguration ceremony Iouana Pillay, an SCCI board councilor, was also recognised for her hard work for the unveiling of SCCI new premises.

Meanwhile, the annual general meeting of SCCI will take place on March 25 where the election of a new chamber of commerce board will take place.
