2018 national theme officially launched |17 March 2018

Sesel Mon Pei Beni’ (‘Seychelles My Blessed Country’), the national theme for the year 2018, along with its logo, was officially launched yesterday at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) car park amid patriotic songs and poem recitals.

It was the oldest living Seychellois citizen Nancy Marie, aged 109, and Aurria Barbé, who has just regained her eyesight, who unveiled the theme in the presence of a host of distinguished guests who included, among others, President Danny Faure, Vice-President Vincent Meriton, Designated Minister Macsuzy Mondon and other ministers, the Speaker of the National Assembly Nicholas Prea and members of the national theme committee.

The launch was a spectacle of light and sound with music from various local artists such as Patrick Victor, Ralph Amesbury, Isham and the Choral and Music Society of Seychelles and Angel’s choir.

The 2018 theme ‘Sesel Mon Pei Beni’ represents love towards one another, unity, peace and harmony among all Seychellois.

The chairperson of the National Theme Steering Committee Jude Fred stated that a country can become triumphant if all citizens work together for a brighter future.

“This year’s national theme is special. It brings each people who inspired the culture of our country, from past history and towards our future.  It reminds us of various reasons that make us love Seychelles even more, by working together others can benefit from our success,” he said.

Mr Fred went on to say that this year’s national theme highlights all the achievements that the government, along with the people of Seychelles, has made for our country.

“Today Seychelles is recognised around the world for such accomplishments and we need to keep persevering for a brighter and stable future,” he said, noting that Seychelles can become greater than today.

He said the theme also calls for all Seychellois to rally together and show more appreciation for and dedication to our nation.

During the ceremony there was also a video presentation on the history of the themes throughout the years, along with a video representing the 2018 theme.

The Everlasting Love Ministry was also present to thank God for having blessed us with a peaceful country.
