Indian specialist conducts breast reduction surgery |22 March 2018

A world-acclaimed breast reduction specialist, Dr Vaibhav Khanna, is in Seychelles to conduct free breast reduction surgery at the Seychelles Hospital from March 20-27.

The visit of the specialist has been organised by the Jeo Jyoti Foundation of India (JJ India) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

Female breast reduction is considered as one of the most commonly requested and successful surgeries locally.

Many women suffer from symptoms caused by weight of their breast, and this can cause neck and back pain, or other physical pains in different parts of the body.

Some 19 surgeries are currently planned for the breast reduction camp during Dr Khanna’s stay here.

He stated breast reduction surgery is a highly effective treatment because it deals directly with the cause of the symptoms, and most women who get breast reduction are very satisfied with the results.

“A lot of women suffer from a lot of pain to the neck and spine as they carry heavy breasts and there are also patients who are suffering from severe pain which require breast reduction surgery,” Dr Khanna said.

He explained that smaller, lighter and firmer breasts means that the patient will no longer suffer discomfort such as back or neck pain and the scars fade away after a certain period of time.

Elizabeth Lafortune had been having physical pain for the last eight years and she underwent breast reduction surgery yesterday, hoping that this would change her life.

“At first I was having back problems and pain in my arms and shoulders. It took me a decade to finally seek for help as I always thought the pain was related to my weight and now after the surgery I feel lighter than before,” she said.

Dr Khanna will return to the country in six months to follow up on all his patients who have undergone surgery.
