Athletes test mettle in Youth Championship |24 March 2018

Local athletes were in action in the Youth Championship contested over two days ‒ Friday and Saturday ‒ at Stad Popiler.

As in any athletics championship, the competitors competed in track and field events, but once again the turnout was quite disappointing in some events.

The winners on the two days of competition were as follows:

100m female Amelie Charles (13.01 seconds), 100m male Denzel Adam (10.99 seconds)

400m female Alison Larue (1:11.58), 400m male Caleb Vadivello (51.49 seconds)

1500m female Ishveen Paulin (5:55.64), 1500m male Dwayne Mellie (4:31.79)

Female 4×100 relay Arsu team made up of Alckisha Rigodon, Tessy Bristol, Anisha Rabat and Jade Lesperance (53.94 seconds), male 4x100m relay Fast Track team of Denzel Adam, Dwayne Mellie, Stephano Moosoodee and Asham Jean (44.82 seconds)

Female long jump Amelie Charles (5.06m), male long jump Chris Labonte (6.01m)

Female javelin Rabella Bonne (25.02m), male javelin Chris Labonte (33.05m)

Male discus Arnold Morel (28.88m)

Female shot put Shamira Chang-Waye (8.39m), male shot put Aron Samedi (10.77m)

Female 200m Shakira Joubert (27.53 seconds), male 200m Denzel Adam (22.61 seconds)

Female 800m Ishveen Paulin (2:44.33), male 800m Jean-Pierre Barallon (2:12.82)

Female 3000m Anisha Rabat (13:12.38), male 3000m Daryl Hibonne (10:18.06)

Female medley relay combined team of Port Glaud Shooting Stars’ Amelie Charles, Plaisance Racing Athletics Club’s Shakira Joubert, Arsu’s Tessy Bristol and Maura Raoul (2:27.04), male medley relay combined team of Arsu’s Jean-Pierre Barallon, Port Glaud Shooting Stars’ Clint Stravens, Ezra Youngman and Caleb Vadivello (2:01.3).
