Petanque: Open Doublette Competition - Botsoie and Jhugroo men’s winners |17 April 2018

Berthe and Chang-Time claim women’s title

 

Antoine Botsoie and Raj Jhugroo were the grand winners of the men’s Open Doublette Competition held on Sunday at the La Promenade Boulodrome, while Sheila Chang-Time and sister Linda Berthe of MBU claimed the top prize in the women’s category.

Contested on a league basis, the tournament attracted nine male teams, along with two female selections who competed alongside two junior teams.

Botsoie and jhugroo won all their eight matches to finish ahead of the Roland Renaud and Ivan Anacoura duo of MBU who registered seven victories.

Andrew Robert paired up with Malagasy Henri Razafitsalama to finish third overall after registering five victories.

In the women’s league, which also featured two male junior teams who are preparing for the forthcoming Jeux de la Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l'Océan Indien (CJSOI), the Berthe and Chang-Time duo registered a maximum three wins to finish on top.

The runners-up spot went to the trio made up of Vivianne Finesse, Dorothy Joubert and Sheila Adolphe who played with one reserve player. They registered two victories from three matches.

The Junior team made up Raj Jhugroo and Shane Benoit finished third overall with a single victory out of three matches.
