IOT’s new prices on Seychelles brand products already into effect |19 April 2018

. Urges distributors and retailers to comply with new rates

The Indian Ocean Tuna Limited (IOT), a subsidiary of the Thai Union group, has said new prices for its Seychelles brand products have already come into effect as from the beginning of this month.

The company announced this after it published its new price list in local publications on the new rates of its canned tuna products.

The tuna company stated that its commitment is to keep its products at an affordable price and that the final price to retailers should not exceed the maximum recommended retail price which is inclusive of VAT.

“IOT strongly encourages the retailers to conform to the recommended price so that the tuna products can be affordable to all Seychellois people. This has been communicated through adverts in the media and through our distributors with whom we’ve have personally met and discussed,” said IOT.

In his State-of-the-nation address this year, President Danny Faure announced that following the government’s discussions with IOT, the company has agreed to reduce the local cost of tuna cans to R5 a can as of April 1, 2018.

Meanwhile, a new stock of canned tuna products is already on the market.

The new prices are as follows:

160gm oil is R16.50; 160gm brine is R15.00; 170gm oil is R18.50; 170gm brine is R17.00; chilli 150gm is R18.00 and 185gm brine is R18.50.
